An invitation to join my daily mantra practice.

I’ve taken these past couple weeks to really go within. Tending to my inner container feels really nourishing, really needed. I did not realize how depleted I was.

My daily chanting practice has been so deeply supportive.

I felt inspired to share my daily devotional practice for September. Feel free to join me or use it as inspiration to find another way to bring more devotion into your life.

Chanting slows and regulates the breath, nourishes our nervous systems, reduces stress and anxiety, improves attention, and creates a greater sense of calm and emotional regulation. The repetition also gives the mind a point of focus, which can simmer down our monkey minds and make meditation more accessible when sitting silently feels impossible.

You are an embodied instrument of healing. The combination of breath, rhythm, repetition, sound, and focused attention can create a deeply settling, meditative state.

With consistent practice, many people also experience greater self-awareness, presence, emotional resilience, and connection.

Some people love doing mantras for a specific number of days. What flows best for me right now is choosing difference mantras or daily devotional practices every month.

No need to remember what day I am on.

Forget one day? Everything is ruined.

Just kidding.

Devotion is returning to yourself.

Come back to your practice, forget, come back, forget again…love the crap out of yourself anyways.

Here’s the link to my playlist on Qobuz. These tracks are available on most music steaming platforms.

Aad Guray Nameh

Mantra:

Aad Guray Nameh Jugaad Guray Nameh Sat Guray Nameh Siri Guru Devay Nameh

Common translation:

I bow to the primal wisdom. I bow to the wisdom through all ages. I bow to the true wisdom. I bow to the great, unseen wisdom.

This is often practiced as a mantra of protection. It can be a way of orienting yourself toward wisdom, truth, and something larger than yourself.

I am held by wisdom. I am protected as I walk my path. I trust what is true.

Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo

Mantra:

Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo

Common translation:

I bow to the creative wisdom. I bow to the divine teacher within.

Ong points toward creative/universal consciousness or creative energy. Namo carries the sense of bowing, honoring, or reverence. Guru is often understood as that which leads from darkness into light, our inner teacher, and Dev as divine or subtle.

Honor what resonates for you, let go of what doesn’t.

In devotion,

Melissa
